Calanque de Sormiou in Maeseille is one of the widest beaches in the department. It is possible to access this beach by car during the low season. It is generally prohibits vehicles from June to the end of September and the weekends of April and May. You can access it by car if you are a client of a restaurant, ask about it when you make a reservation.
The main beach is made of sand and found on the right side of the calanque. It is small but the site is very agreeable. However, this calanque is very busy thanks to its easy access. There is a lifeguard in the summer. We also find two little sand creeks on the left part next to the harbor.
The side is very picturesque with several cabanas, a little harbor with colored boats and a few restaurants.
Parking was 4 euros when we came.
We can also get to this calanque from the parking lot La Cayolle. However, this one is known for frequent theft. There is a bus stop at La Cayolle. From the parking lot, you will need about an hour to get to the beach.
A snorkeling center UCPA can be found nearby. This is also a departure point to discover the calanques by kayak.
