Beaches in La Ciotat (13600) France - advise, map and photos

La Ciotat is the easternmost seaside resort in the Bouches du Rhone Department. It is found between Cassis and St-Cyr-sur-Mer, first seaside resort in the Var Department. There are things to do around the Vieux-Port and many restaurants. There are many choices of beaches in La Ciotat. We find many calanques including the beautiful Figuerolles calanque. Near Mugel Park, we find two small calanques facing Ile Verte (the only wooded island in the department) and near Cape de l'Aigle. To the east of the Vieux-Port and the casino, we find a succession of familial sand and gravel beaches. There is a lifeguard present and a nice walk along the beaches. To the east of La Ciotat, a few small secret creeks can be found for those who are looking for some calm.

The beaches of St-Cyr-sur-Mer and notably the Port d'Alon calanque are nearby. To the west are the beaches of Cassis. Getting to the latter may be difficult, but it deserves a visit. We could equally go to the beaches of Marseille which offer great diversity (about 30 minutes by car).
