Our opinion on the Calanque d'En-Vau

Calanque d'En-Vau in Marseille is located between high cliffs. Cassis is the closest town, but this calanque belongs go Marseille. In the middle of the pines, it is one of the most beautiful calanques in the Mediterranean. It has the advantage of being protected from the famous wind, the“mistral”. Those who love the sun will come in the morning since the cliffs bring shade early in the day.

The beach is composed of gravel. It is relatively narrow at less than 100  meters wide. However, this calanque is 700 meters long. The water is calm and transparent with beautiful colors of blue and green.

We can here here from Port-Miou by taking the coastal path for about 45 minutes by foot. By car (prohibited from mid-June to mid-September) take the D559 that links Cassis to Marseille. Across from the military zone take the road that goes in the forest la Gardiole and park in the lot. A path allows access to the calanque – plan one hour by foot.

Note that this zone is reputed for underwater fishing and snorkeling, especially at Pointe Cacau.
