Huveaune Beach in Marseille is located near Avenue du Prado and at the beginning of the hippodrome Borély. It is the only intact ancient beach of Prado. It has a few different names. The two official names are: Huveaune Beach and Planches a Voile Beach. The third name is the nick name given to this beach by the people of Marseille and the surfers: Epluchure Beach. The nickname is not flattering, and we can understand why the mayor had a tough time naming this beach! This beach is bordered by the Huveaune where many types of wastes were poured from the neighboring factories (that are now closed). They say that when there are large storms, the gutters pour into the Huveaune... When the mistral is blowing, lots of garbage is found on this beach. It is rare to find a person from Marseille on this beach, aside from those practicing windsurfing or surfing. It's up to you to see if you want to swim here...
