Prophète Beach in Marseille is one of the oldest beaches in the city. Located on the corniche, between the Vieux-Port (Old Harbor) and the beaches of Gaston-Defferre, this beach is crowded with families and young children. All the people of Marseille learned to swim here! The steady slope into the water allows us to touch the bottom for a long way into the sea. Also, the sand is fine and the beach is wide and is protected by a dam. It's rare to see waves on this beach! On the border there are beach volleyball courts, which is popular in Marseille.
Note that this beach has a lifeguard in the summer. To get to this beach, take bus number 83 and stop at Le Prophète. From the Vieux-Port, you will need about 45 minutes to get here by foot.
