The French Riviera is not an official geographical boundary. We will assume that it begins east of the creeks of Marseille and Cassis and ends at the Italian border (Menton). The French Riviera includes the beaches of the Alpes Maritimes and the Var region. The beaches are sandy in the west and pebbly from Nice.
The French Riviera coastline includes many famous resorts and beaches. The best known are St Tropez and the famous Pampelonne Beach, Cannes and the Croisette, Antibes and the old town, Nice, the capital of the Côte d'Azur with its famous Promenade des Anglais and Menton with its lemon festival. A few destinations nearby focus on seaside tourism like Le Lavandou, Bormes les Mimosas or Hyères.
Please find on the map below the list of the most beautiful beaches of the French Riviera. We selected them against our knowledge of the coastline; you will find the most famous beaches but also some confidential beaches that have particularly made an impact (wild and protected environment).
Of course, there are private beaches on most of these beaches (but there is always a public area), which are famous destinations.
For more detail, see the list of the beaches in the Gulf of St Tropez and the creeks of the Esterel (both are included in the French Riviera).
