Elephant Beach in Sainte Maxime owes its reputation to Babar. Indeed, the hills in the background have inspired Jean de Brunhoff in "The Journey of Babar" with Babar’s flight in a hot air balloon.
This sandy beach is located along the road (with parking places) and stretches for several hundred meters (but it is not wide). The downside is that the slope is relatively steep so when you are swimming, you quickly finds yourself in deep in the water!
This beach is not supervised even in the summer season!
The access is through avenue du Croiseur Léger Malin, up to avenue des Algues.
Dogs are not allowed on this beach.
