Our opinion on the Pointe aux Chats Cove
The Pointe des Chats is located in the south-east of the Breton island of Groix. This place was named by seamen in the XIXth century, for the form of its rocks. This point constitutes a protected nature reserve, due in particular to minerals (garnets, mica schists, glaucophanes, epidotes, etc.). To the east of the lighthouse, going up towards the campsite and the Grands Sables, numerous coves decorate the coastline. They attract couples and families. They are so numerous that there is something to welcome everyone while preserving the privacy of each group.

Between two outcrops of shale, there is always a place for beautiful small sandy beaches.
Here, the rock and the dune, the sand and the water go hand in hand. But do not count too much on the cliffs or the trees to protect you from the winds in this southeast point of Groix. The lighthouse was built in 1897 following numerous shipwrecks on the shoals of the "Chats".
In recent years, mechanical cleaning has been banned from the island to preserve the seawalls and plants that fix the sand by their roots. Even if it had to be done, it would be very complicated for vehicles/equipment to carry out the work.
