The island of Groix is located in the south of Brittany, in the department of Morbihan, 45 minutes by boat from Lorient. With its 15 km² (8 km long and a width varying from 2 to 4 km), it is in the TOP 3 of the most important islands of Brittany (Belle-Ile is the largest with its 85 km² then Ouessant with 18 Km²). It is divided into two parts: to the east, you will find Primiture with its beautiful beaches and groves and to the west Piwisy with a steep and untamed coastline.
There are about twenty beaches on the island of Groix. It is here that we find the only convex beach in Europe (the Grands Sables, it has changed places several times ...). It is the most frequented. It also offers some hidden coves where you can avoid the summer crowd.
It is possible to come to the island of Groix by car but it is very expensive to make the crossing. We advise you to cycle (50 km of authorised trails, those of the littoral are forbidden to cyclists, they are reserved for the walkers).
Regarding the villages, the main town of Groix is Loctudy (also named Le Bourg). To the south-east is Locmaria with its small fishing port.
On the mainland side, the nearest resorts are Larmor-Plage, Ploemeur and Port-Louis.
