Beaches in Plouhinec (56680) France - advise, map and photos

Plouhinec is situated in the south of Brittany in the Morbihan department next to the Gâvres Peninsula, and also close to the Quiberon Peninsula.

Its coast continues on from Gâvres’s and stops at the mouth of the Etel River in the east, giving it just over 7km (4.5 miles) of sandy beaches. Plouhinec town can be found just a small distance away from the coast and the commune has 3 beaches choose from(three that are accessible and where swimming is allowed) that are homogenous in their composition and all surrounded by vast dunes. Linès Beach is located further to the west and is unique in the fact that it borders a Military Zone used by the French Navy. Access is allowed depending on the time of year, however in July and August there are no restrictions. Magouero and Kervégant beaches are the wildest of the three. Both have lifeguard stations while also boasting the prestigious Blue Flag label. They are a little hard to get to but the locations are absolutely stunning. Do take care however, as the seas can be a little rough in these areas.

Along the Etel River, and close to the hamlet of Vieux Passage, is a maritime graveyard where a number of shipwrecks can actually still be found on the sand today. A truly rare and astonishing sight.

Close to Plouhinec, the fort at Port-Louis is definitely worth a visit. This fortified town in the south east of the Lorient commune faces Larmor-Plage and l’Ile-de-Groix. Looking to the east, towards Quiberon, you can see the untouched beauty that is Erdeven’s beaches.
