Bonifacio is a medieval city located at the southernmost part of Corsica (Ile de Beauté), and is often described as a city at the end of the world resting on top of white cliffs opposite Sardinia.
The upper town is the most impressive part. Old houses are spread over one end of the cliff. Streets are picturesque with beautiful old houses and decorated facades.
The marina, located below, is the port of Bonifacio. This is where summer tourist animation is.
Concerning the beaches of Bonifacio, one mostly swims outside the city. From the upper-town, there are two coves (Catena and Orinella) but they are only accessible by boat. The most beautiful coves and sandy beaches are outside Bonifacio. They are not always easy to access but they are beautiful. To the west, Tonnara Beach and Cala di Paragnano bring us into heavenly places towards Figari. On the eastern side, several bays are home to magnificent stretches of sand. The most famous is Rondinara. It is located in an almost completely enclosed cove. The Gulf of Santa Manza is also home to some beautiful beaches.
Further north, the beaches of Porto-Vecchio with Santa Giulia or Palombaggia are ideally family-oriented. There are many activities in summer.
