Our opinion on the St. Francois Beach
St. Francois beach in Ajaccio is located just before the citadel and near the port. It is dominated by a beautiful promenade lined with palm trees on boulevard Lantivy.
This is one of the best placed beaches of Ajaccio located near to the town centre but it is strongly advised to come on foot (very difficult to find a parking space).
Near the citadel and the cathedral, you will find a widest beach. Towards the road of Sanguinaires, the beach then becomes narrower.

This beach stretches from the citadel until the beginning of Boulevard Albert 1er. This is the most central beach of Ajaccio.
There are several accesses to the beach by stairways.
On the left, you can reach a nice sandy beach at the foot of the Citadel. However, you may get your feet wet!
The beach at the foot of the Citadel is wider and most pleasant (set away from the road).
This photo was taken in mid-September, there are a few people in this area.
The small width of this beach is due to the enlargement of a nearby beach (erosion phenomenon).
From this view of the beach of Saint Francois, in the summer season, we see that it is impossible to park. Narrow beach but safe for swimming due to the gently sloping beach. Access by stairs visible on the photo.
The palm trees and beach of Saint Francois are visible on the right side of this picture.
The beach of St. Francois at the citadel is a very nice large beach.
