The small hilltop village of Calcatoggio in Corsica overlooks the Gulf of Liscia and is located twenty kilometres north of the city of Ajaccio. The landscape consists of olive trees and the ruins of the two Genoese towers, Orcino and Ancona, which guard the entrance to the village. If the Church of the Annunciation and the Romanesque chapel of Saint-Nicolas are part of the riches of the area, the beaches of Calcatoggio less than ten minutes from the town square appeal to vacationers.
Calcatoggio indeed offers more than 10 kilometres of coastline (mostly rocky, it is often difficult to access because of the private properties) and Liscia Beach (or Stagone Beach) is the most popular. There is also fine golden sand on the beach of Orcino and on the nearby small coves, small paradise, which delight all visitors. Whether one is looking for peace and quiet or is eager to discover the region, the landscape surrounding the village leaves no one indifferent. Many trails lead to the discovery of the convent of Saint-François-de-la-Mezzana and Liscia Beach, water skiing, sea kayaking, wake boarding, catamarans, parasailing and jet skiing are a small part the many activities offered. Dive spots are also must see! Sea lovers can head to the beaches of Sagone, which remained wild and the beaches of Cargèse, which mark the end of the Gulf of Sagone.
