Our opinion on the But Beach
On the western tip of Ile-d’Yeu, there is a succession of small sandy beaches nicknamed But beaches. The environment is wild and attendance very low (one is far from the tourist villages). However, the area is deemed dangerous because of the strong currents on the rocky plateau (Lower Flora) north of the island (many shipwrecks are to be deplored). On the tip of But, there is an old building in the shape of a foghorn as well as the ruins of a semaphore.
To get to this beach, take Pin Road from the hamlet of Pin Ker Gigou, which provides connections to the tip of But.

Located on the most advanced tip west of Ile-d’Yeu, But Beach is also one of the wildest beaches on the island and one of the least known. However, one must be careful because there are strong currents in the area.
The environment is wild and little frequented. Unlike the Wild Coast, there are no cliffs in this area.
In the background in this picture, one can see some small coves.
The tip of But is on the left with the old foghorn (there are many shipwrecks near this peak because of the currents created on the island of Perrin Dogs).
