Beaches in Notre-Dame-de-Monts (85690) France - advise, map and photos

Located on the Côte de Lumière, in the north of the Vendée department, the little seaside resort of Notre-Dame-de-Monts is quiet and family orientated. The village, which has not changed much, is one of the most beautiful of the Vendee and offers holiday makers the authenticity they like. The town is separated from the beach by dunes and the pine forest of the Pays de Monts, allowing pleasant strolls in the countryside. The coastline stretches for over 4 km and the gently shelving beaches that lead to the ocean are perfect for children. Shore fishing is practiced on the Pont d'Yeu’s rocky headland, not far from the island of the same name that can be reached easily by boat.

Notre Dame de Monts has nine beaches. The town centre is very family orientated with many activities and a kid’s club. Water sports are also found there. In the north, several beaches offer totally natural environments. They extend for over several kilometres and are followed by the beaches of La Barre de Monts. In the south, the landscapes are equivalent to those of the north with long stretches of sand. Saint Jean de Monts‘ beaches are only a few kilometres away.

Cars are tolerated, many of the facilities are dedicated to cycling. There are many walking paths and environmentally friendly shuttle buses allow you to get around easily.

The resort also has an architectural heritage as you will discover through “bourrines”, mills and locks. It also hosts the annual festival dedicated to all wind kites, the “Déferlante” offering to discover the street arts and several sports activities for all tastes.
