Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez is a small seaside resort of Vendée. It is located on the coast of “Lumière” (light), near Les Sables d'Olonne, north of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, and offers tourists a wide variety of landscapes. It has 13 km of coastline; the vast majority is made up of beaches, pine forests of Pays de Monts but also the Breton marshes.

There are 11 beaches in Saint Hilaire de Riez which follow on from the beaches of St Jean de Monts. To Sion sur l’Océan, the beaches are unspoilt and bordered by dunes and then the last three beaches become more urbanized.

It has many attractions including the garden of “Rigonneries”, the “Bourrine du Bois Juquaud” that reveals the old farms of the early twentieth century and of course the salt marshes of “Vie”, used by man for centuries and restored to working order a few years ago.

Kite-surfing, sand yachting and horse riding are popular activities on the coast of the resort. You can also visit the various markets of the town to discover local specialties or choose to make a boat trip (or try fishing at sea) to learn all about this little part of the authentic and warm Vendée. The beaches of the “Demoiselles”, “60 bornes” and “Sion” are the most popular and that of “Salins” welcomes naturism lovers.
