Red Cove Beach (Anse Rouge) on the island of Noirmoutier is undoubtedly one of the most unspoilt coves of the island. It is not very well known (one must know the access route), and offers a real picture postcard landscape with Plantier Tower (which looks like a lighthouse but it is a private property that was built in 1861) and its bathing huts bordered by Chair Wood. It is a total escape. Regulars mainly come here to enjoy their bathing huts and soft sand on the beach. It is our favourite beach in Noirmoutier.
To get to this beach, take Soupirs Street on Maréchal Joffre Avenue. This cove can be reached via stairs. Be careful, one cannot park in the surrounding areas, one must come by bicycle.
