Located in the continuity of Midi beach, Croix Rouge Beach in Barbâtre (southwest of Noirmoutier - there is also Ocean Beach, not to be confused with Epine Beach) is one of the largest beaches in the island. Recognized as a yachting place (at low tide, there is a school there), it is less known for swimming. Yet it remains very interesting because its access is simple and bathing is gently sloping. There are toilets next to the local yachting school (at first sight one can even borrow a tiralo for disabled people).
To get to this beach from the mainland, follow the D38 after the bridge. At the roundabout, turn left towards Barbâtre on the D948 and follow the road for 1 km. At the fork, turn left on Ocean Avenue. The car park is at the end of the street. One can also reach this beach through Croix Rouge Street (but it is more difficult to park).
