Grand Marchais Beach and Petit Marchais Beach are located southeast of the forest of Lizay in Portes en Ré. Although the environment is pleasant, the beach is only practicable when swimming at high tide (there are many rocks). At low tide, one can walk around and enjoy shore fishing.
Both accesses lead to this beach. But it is advisable to use route du Petit Marchais because there is free car park near the beach (it is possible to use the road access from Grand Marchais but only if one is on foot).
