Fourneau Cove is located in the town of Portes en Ré, northeast of the island of Ré. It has the distinction of being at the north end of the bench of Bucheron, which leaves natural pools at low tide. The environment is nice but it is not easy to swim at low tide (there is only a few small ponds). At low tide, one must be careful as the sea rises quickly because of the bench.
It is also a famous kite surf spot (without any restrictions from June 1 to June 30 - before 10 am and after 6 pm in July and August).
To reach this beach, follow the D101 towards Trousse Chemise and La Patache. After the campsite of Providence, drive 1.6 km and turn left on rue de l’anse du Fourneau. There is a car park at the end of the street. There is another access (the street before the D101), but it is not possible to park. It's the same beach but it bears the name of Aile du Peu.
