The seaside resort of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie is located north of Vendée, and is a major tourist destination in Pays de la Loire. It is a popular family destination with many activities in summer only 30 km from Les Sables d'Olonne and 1 hour by boat from Ile-d’Yeu.
There are several beaches in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. The main one stretches along the resort center on more than 3 km. The embankment borders it (pedestrian walk) where there are restaurants, cafes and shops. This beach offers the largest number of activities. Sports enthusiasts can discover sailing, surfing or kite surfing. Kids can have fun on the wide stretch of sand. Both ends are wilder with beautiful dunes and trails leading to a wild setting. There are two beaches and coves north near the port and Josephine tower, which are ideal at low tide to fish from the shore
The green belt is a path leading to the new neighbourhoods south from the city center, an invitation to relax in a green and relaxing setting. Children are also catered for with equipped playgrounds. In the south, there is one last beach in the wild dune of Jaunay, quieter and less crowded close to the beaches of Brétignolles sur mer. One will also be able to easily access the beaches of Les Sables d'Olonne, city made famous by the Vendée Globe.
