Saumonards Beach in Oléron is one of the wildest beaches on the island, on the Sea of Pertuis. Located north of Boyardville, it belongs to the municipality of St Georges of Oléron. It is popular for its calm and the beautiful pine forest bordering it. It can only be accessed through trails (only by bicycle or on foot). At the edge, there are beautiful dunes and swimming is gently sloping. Nice view of Fort Boyard and the island of Aix. On this vast sandy beach several kilometres long, there is a 500-meter area where naturism is tolerated.
There are two small little car parks in the forest of Saumonards (the first one at the fort and the second north of the tip); they are quickly full in summer. There are two accesses, the first one from Boyardville; one must take the road of Saumonards towards the municipal campsite and the fort (3 km). There is a car park near the beach. One can also access the beach at Gautrelle Beach (see our indications). Turn right at the car park.
The nudist area is in the center of the beach.
