Saint-Georges-d'Oléron, located on the island of Oléron in Charente, is one of the oldest villages on the island. Located in the north, the coast opens to the east and west coasts.

Most athletes enjoy the West Coast, which is nicknamed the Wild Coast. The Atlantic Ocean waves are ideal for water sports. The beaches are wide and bordered by dunes. They are generally monitored in summer.

The East Coast opens to Pertuis of Antioch and offers a panoramic view of the island of Aix and Fort Boyard (private property but shuttles are available to go around by boat). The sea is less rough than on the west coast. The coastline is very family-oriented. Several beaches stretch between the small port of Douhet and the tip of Saumonards where there is a magnificent forest with bicycle paths. The three nudist beaches of the island of Oléron are located there.

Many bike paths lead to the various beaches of Saint Georges d'Oléron. Road access is very difficult in summer (and the roads are in poor conditions), which is why it is recommended to go by bike.

Nearby, one can enjoy the beach of Boyardville with shops in the small port. The beaches of St Denis of Oléron, which remain very interesting, are located north. Do not forget to climb the lighthouse of Chassiron, which offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the region.
