Located 13 km north west of the spa town of Rochefort, Fouras is facing the beautiful island of Aix accessible from the tip of la Fumée by boat. This small family seaside resort offers 5 beautiful beaches some of which are located in the city center. The waterfront is dominated by the fort of Vauban (to visit). From the terrace of this one, a magnificent panorama unfolds on the points of interest of the region : the island of Aix, the island Madame, the island of Oléron, the island of Ré, La Rochelle and Fort Boyard.
The seafront has a nice promenade with many bars and restaurants. Some of Fouras beaches are located below this walk.
From the tip of la Fumée, at low tide, the Enet Fort is then reached on foot (between the tip and the island of Aix). This is where we find the oyster area of Fouras with these few fishing huts.To see some beautiful villas of the Belle Epoque, direction the Bois-Vert.
To note that one is in the sea of Pertuis protected by the 4 islands of Charente-Maritime.
