Our opinion on the Grande Plage

Grande Plage in St Trojan les Bains (also called Giraudière Beach) is the most beautiful beach on the island of Oléron and the most popular (it is very close to the mainland). It stretches several kilometres but the central part is the most popular (caution, swimming is prohibited far south, at the tip of Gatseau). A large forest borders it. Some areas are monitored in summer.

There is a naturist area north of the village of Grand-Village-Plage between passage of Soeurs and passage of Trillou (one can park in the car park of Petit Robinson then go north for about 1.6 km (a 30-minute walk). There is a second area south. The entrance is located through the car park of D126E1 by walking 10 minutes south (careful because there are baïnes).

Several accesses lead to this beach. There is a car access at the entrance of St-Trojan (near the port). Turn right before the roundabout (the beach is indicated). There is a car park at the beach. A second access is available in the village of Grand-Village-Plage. On the D126 (from Trojan), turn left at the second roundabout (the beach is indicated) on the Beach Boulevard. There is a large car park at the end (one can reach the naturist area from there). There are also other pedestrian accesses through the different passages (about 20 minutes on foot).
