Port an-Dro Beach in Belle Ile en Mer is divided in two parts at high tide, with fine yellow sand, appreciated for its sunshine and natural screen that the coast protects from prevailing winds. The beach is rather popular because it is accessible (it is located along the coastal road), has a campsite in the background and offers relative size to the area. Beach volleyball tournaments, water sports, restaurant ... This is an active and relatively young beach. Yet it has a long history. As on about twenty beaches on the island, Vauban has erected fortifications because Belle Ile, protected by cliffs against English and Dutch raids, had weak beaches. Hence the fortifications (or their ruins) that one can still see everywhere. Here too.
To get there, just follow the coastal road north from Le Palais. Two car parks are available.
