The seaside station of Barneville-Carteret is in the department of the Manche (English Channel) in France on the Coast of Isles in north of Jersey and in quarantine kilometres in the south of Cherbourg. It is part of seaside stations most visited of Cotentin. The village is divided into three zones. Barneville-Plage is the seaside centre with a nice beach which stretches over several kilometres towards Portbail (southward). Nearby, Carteret is the peach, trade harbour and pleasure. In the East, Barneville with the trade is found.
Four beaches in Barneville-Carteret are found. The beach of Potinière is the historical beach with its cabins of baths. It was very fashionable at the beginning of 20th century with the fashion of sea bathings. In the north, the beach of the Old Church (Vieille Eglise) is the beginning of a large long beach of more than 10 kilometres broadsides by huge dunes. They come there to go for a walk there or to make the sand yacht. In the south, the beach of Barneville is central. It is supervised in summer.
Barneville is starting point for iles Anglo-Norman. In season, shuttles assure crossing for Jersey or Guernesey (one hour of crossing). More in the south, it is possible to go on Granville's beaches with its high city surrounded by bulwarks. It is also starting point the archipelago of Chausey (only iles Anglo-Norman French).
To note that the dogs are forbidden on the different beaches of Barneville in summer (July and August). They are tolerated out of season on the condition of being kept in lead outside the zones of bathing. In the north, in some kilometres, on the beach of Hattainville, they are allowed (held in lead).
