Situated north of Agon Coutainville, in the Coutançais area, Gouville sur Mer is a small seaside resort on the west coast of the Cotentin in the county Manche. It is easily recognizable with its colourful bathing huts in the dunes.
There is a wide beach in Gouville sur Mer divided into several areas. The central beach has a lifeguard station in the summer and is equipped for people with reduced mobility. At low tide, the sea retreats for several kilometres making it impossible to swim (the gently shelving beach is close to the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel). People come for shore fishing. In the southern part, there are oyster beds to be discovered (the town is known as the capital of the open sea oysters, visits are organised).
Nearby Gouville, you will find the castle of Pirou which is one of the oldest Norman castles. In the south, the beaches of Agon Coutainville are very pleasant with a resort centre typical of the Golden days. The Agon Point near Regnéville is ideal for walking.
