Located in the county of La Manche, in the west Cotentin, the seaside resort of Pirou is renowned for its coastline. It is also famous for its shellfish. There is the oldest Norman castle, the Castle of Pirou (that can be visited).
With 5 km of coastline on the Channel, Pirou is a popular family destination. The coast has remained untamed with towering dunes. There are three beaches to be found in Pirou including that of the town centre which is supervised in the summer season and has a sea water swimming pool which is uncovered at low tide. Shore fishing is a popular activity in the region. The resort is surrounded by two harbours (one of Saint-Germain-sur-Ay in the north and the one of Geffosses in the south).
The waterfront, Pirou-Plage, is especially alive in the summer season with several restaurants.
Near Pirou, you can find beach huts set on the dunes of the beach of Gouville, the haven of Lessay in Saint-Germain-sur-Ay where you can take beautiful walks or Countainville resort with its beautiful seaside houses dating back to the Golden Days.
