Located in the department of the Basse-Normandie (English Channel), on the coast of Isles, the seaside station of Portbail faced up Anglo-Norman iles (Jersey). These last protect the coasts of the heave of the Atlantic. What makes a seaside destination very appraised in summer. It is Blue Pavilion for several years.
They find that a large beach with Portbail which begins in the south at level in the haven and that ends in the north in Barneville-Plage, that is about 5 kms of fine sand. This large sand expanse is cut up in two main zones. The south zone, the closest to the city centre (this one is away from the sea), is watched in summer. The north part is more wild with a developed dune space. The seaside is done up with a pedestrian track allowing to join the common neighbours and notably Barneville-Carteret.
In season, the Portbail station is linked up in this of Barneville by the tourist train of Cotentin (train of 1930s managed by an association). It circulates the weekend and the days of market (on Tuesday for that of Portbail and on Thursdays for that of Carteret). He stops on itinerary to Saint-Georges of the River and Saint-Jean of the River.
