The seaside resort of Saint Germain sur Ay is located in the department of the Channel facing the island of Jersey about 50 kilometers west from Saint-Lô.
The seafront of St Germain sur Ay is apart from the village. We mainly find secondary houses with some shops. The main beach of St Germain sur Ay is monitored in summer. It stretches to the south to the mouth of Ay at the level of the tip of the Banc. It is here that we find the wildest beach of the municipality with huge dunes. An area is also reserved for naturits (it is the only official naturist beach of the department of the Channel).
In the commune we find le Havre de Lessay which belongs to the conservatoire du littoral. Many walks allow to discover this bay which is often compared to a small Mont Saint Michel whose landscapes vary according to the tides. In the salty meadows we can even see sheep grazing the meadow.
On the central beach, it is not rare to see tractors. They belong to fishermen who use them to pull up their boats.
