The Grand Crohot Beach of Lège-Cap-Ferret is one of the most popular beaches of the peninsula of Cap Ferret. It is also the closest ocean beach to Lège-Cap-Ferret city centre and theneighbouring towns of the Arcachon Bay. This sandy beach stretches for several kilometres towards North to Le Porge and South to Grand Piquey (Truc Vert beach). In the summer, the only area under lifeguard supervision is near the main carpark (1500 spaces) and restaurants. After the bunker, it is possible to practice kitesurfing, including in the summer months.
Thesand dunes before the beach arevery developed (see photos). We even found among the dunes a former bunker of the Second World War. Crossing the dunes is possible by landscaped board walks (approximately 10 minutes’ walk). You can even come across a WW II bunker.
To get to this beach from the centre of Lège-Cap-Ferret, follow the signs for the Grand Crohot (Crohot forest road after the industrial zone).
