Located 30 minutes north of Ajaccio, Lava Beach offers a beautiful stretch of sand about 1 km in a pleasant bay. Despite the development of tourism in the Gulf of Lava (many holiday facilities, restaurants, straw huts and sports activities), this beach remained wild (especially the south). In summer, the beach is monitored and there is an access for disabled people. However, when the sea is rough, it is highly inadvisable to swim, as this area can be very dangerous. North of the beach, a path leads to the ruins of the Tower of Pelusella.
To get to this beach from Ajaccio, take the D81 towards Sagone. Drive on this county road for 7 km and turn left onto the D381 towards the Gulf of Lava. There is a car park along the beach 8 km away.
