La Redoute beach of Merville-Franceville is located west of the seaside resort and extends to the mouth of the Orne. There are three distinct areas.
The first zone is at Kennedy Boulevard. It is the only area where swimming is supervised (July and August) and allowed (direction of the city-center). By going to the left, swimming is no longer monitored and is even banned from the kitesurfing area.
The second zone is reserved for kitesurfing. Be careful, swimming is not allowed.
Then the third zone, after the channel for kitesurfing, with a naturist beach (with very beautiful dunes). Because of the proximity of the mouth of the Orne, swimming is stricly prohibited (strong currents).
There are two access to this beach. The first zone is accessible by Kennedy Boulevard with some parking spaces on Wattier Boulevard. The zones farther west are accessible by taking the D514 towards Ouistreham then following the signs for la Redoute (small street on the right with billboards advertising the harbor and a restaurant). Large free parking.
