Located in the department of Calvados, in Lower Normandy, 18 km north of Caen, the municipality of Langrune-sur-Mer is the ultimate family seaside resort. Hobbies and activities are numerous, water sports very practiced and fishing on foot attracts tourists who appreciate the rocks and the variety of shellfish to find at low tide.
Langrune was nicknamed « the children’s beach » in the 50s for its tranquility and friendliness and it does not fall in its reputation since a few decades later it is still as popular. It has a long beach classified since 1926 and a eautiful architecture sometimes astonishing, testifies the « Chalet » of the anchorage, built around 1880 in the purest Swedish style. The Manor of the Knights Templar, which dates from the eleventh century, and the houses of the streets of Luc and Goulet deserves that one lingers there. The Saint-Martin church which can be visited by appointement is equally remarkable, although its imposing size contrasts with the small number of inhabitants of the town. The 65m high bell tower is the second tallest in the region.
During the summer, the night market stands on the dike.
In the continuity of Langrune-sur-Mer, we can enjoy the beaches of Luc sur Mer where we find a thalassotherapy center. 50 km to the west, there is the charming Deauville station with its famous boards.
