The Goelands Beach (also called plage des Mouettes, access to the latter is, in fact, two blocks south) is the first beach south of Mimizan. It begins at the estuary of the Mimizan Courant and extends along Avenue de l’Ocean. This beach does not come under lifeguard supervision and animals are allowed. It is a popular beach in the summer season.
Parking is quite difficult in this area in the summer season. There are parking spaces along Avenue de l’Ocean but they are quickly taken: “The early bird gets the worm”. There are several beach accesses to the beach by well-maintained trails.
