Camélias Beach in La Tranche-sur-Mer - France

After going to Acacias Beach and finding that dogs were not apparently allowed, we tried this beach. We parked on the road near to the entrance and walked the short distance. There is a sign at the entrance explaining that dogs are forbidden, but allowed if kept in a leash if the beach is "non surveillee", with another sign below it saying "Plage Non Surveillee". Being a hot midweek day in late July, the beach was fairly busy without being packed. Nevertheless, we were the only people there with a dog, and a number of people/groups stared at us for a long while when we arrived and walked to an empty area to set up our umbrella, etc.
Beach & sea were clean. Sea bed sandy but, a little way out was pebbly/gravelly.
Overall a nice beach, but we did feel very conspicuous taking a dog there.
