Located in the department of Vendee, on the coast of Lumière, the seaside resort of Jard-sur-Mer is a family orientated destination. The beaches of Jard sur Mer are bordered by cliffs and the maritime forest and the town has some remarkable sites, such as the abbey Royale de Lieu-Dieu, built in 1198 by Richard The Lion Heart.
The resort is about twenty kilometres from Sables-d'Olonne and has nearly 7 km of coastline. Very authentic, it still offers its visitors some examples of the old houses of Vendee. Numerous trails traverse the pine forest, allowing you to discover the flora and fauna on foot or by bicycle. You can also choose to walk in the marshes that surround the town, or go in search of the small peaceful coves that lie between the vast and well-appointed beaches. Family orientated, Jard-sur-Mer also attracts sportsmen, notably thanks to its marina, its windsurfing base and the many surf spots which are well known. A beautiful view awaits holidaymakers on the Moulin de la Conchette or on the Pointe du Payre which gives a view of the beaches of Talmont sur Hilaire. Further east, you can also appreciate the beaches of Longeville sur Mer much appreciated by surfers thanks to the spot Bud Bud.
