The beach of Brèche de Graye is the most wseterly beach from Graye sur Mer, at the limit of the commune of Courseulles sur Mer and of its port. It is part of the landing beaches of 1944 (Juno Beach sector – the museum is at about 500 meters away). It is here that the Général de Gaulle landed on June 14, 1944 after 4 years of exile (there is the Cross of Lorraine, symbol of national independance and freedom - monument of 1990 inaugurated by the General’s son).
It has a first aid station (opened in July and August). Bordered by few dunes, the environment is preserved. At high tide, the space considerly reduces leaving a narrow sand cord. At low tide, there are many pebbles (it is advisable to use shoes for swimming, especially for children).
To get to this beach coming from Courseulles sur Mer, take the direction of Graye sur Mer. After the port, take the first street on the road (sign indicating this beach as well as the Cross of Lorraine). Small free parking nearby. At the level of the access, we can see the tank "Charlie" used on June 6, 1944 for the landing.
