Lion-sur-Mer is a seaside resort of Calvados located at the edge of the Channel and belonging to the Côte de Nacre. It is at 15 km from Caen and offers a vaste sandy beach which ends west with nice cliffs.
It shares with the neighboring communes Sword Beach, one of the 5 landing beaches, and has several monuments not to be missed like the castle of the city whose construction dates from the 13th century and the church which, if you clim bits small staircase, offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the area on the village, the sea and the countryside. The beaches of Cabourg are at less than 25km.
Along the promenade we find beautiful villas that are the pride of the region and continuing to fall we fall on the cliff of Confessionnaux, a natural space absolutely unique and that the tide shaped, creating in various places small caves in which one can not venture. All around are very numerous fossils whose collection is tolerated, as the site is known worldwide. Guided tours are organized unless one prefers the fishing on foot, very popular during the high tides !
