Guéthary, located between Bidart and Saint Jean de Luz, is a former small fishing village. Very different from the seaside resorts of the Basque Coast, it has a picturesque style and a wild environment. From the center, go past the small bridge over the railway track to access the port of Guéthary and its beaches. It is a shame that this railway threatens the beauty of the site. The port is very authentic with sandy beaches on both sides. Here surfers are kings!
A typical Basque village, one can admire the pediment bordering the town hall. Walk down the main street to enjoy the charm of the Basque region and stop at a street cafe round the corner. This is an amazing moment!
There are a few small restaurants in Guéthary; our favourite is the one next to the station. The setting is nice with a cottage-like interior. There are also beaches outside the town center, one of which is shared with Bidart.
There is a pleasant path between the port of Guéthary and Parlementia Beach. There is a kiosk and a restaurant with a fantastic location. It is ideal for those wishing to eat on the seafront.
