Located a few hundred meters from Spain, Hendaye is one of the most important seaside destinations in Pays Basque in France. We find the most beautiful beaches of the Cote Basque stretching over close to three kilometers along the seafront between sand and typical Basque houses, between the harbor and the twin rocks. A large pool of water is available for those who love to sail.
Note that Hendaye is reputed for having the calmest beaches on the Cote Basque thanks to the protection of Cap Figuier and the pointe Sainte Anne. The beaches benefit from a very feeble incline that allows easy swimming, even for young children. A kid's club is available as well.
Hendaye is also a thalassotherapy center reputed on the seafront, near the harbor.
From Hendaye we can easily get to Spain – the city of Hondarribia is located just across from Hendaye. You can cross over by boat in ten minutes. You'll be guaranteed a culture shock!
Things to discover in Hendaye: Abbadia chateau (can visit) which offers a grandiose view of the ocean and cliffs of this part of the Cote Basque, the natural site of Abbadia.
For those who would like to alternate beaches and hiking trips, Hendaye is the ideal destination: coastal path, trail in the bay of Txingudi or the summet of the Rhune with its enchanting view of the Cote Basque.
