Ancient little fishing harbor, Biarritz has become one of the most chic seaside destinations in Pays Basque and the Atlantic coast. It is also the most important destination in the Pyrenees Atlantiques, located just a few dozen kilometers from the department Landes and its big pine forests and high dunes as far as the eye can see.
Biarritz is lively all year long, unlike many French seaside destinations. We find here many events and competitions from surfing to cinema that attracts showbiz.
The choice is large for beaches in Biarritz! Families enjoy Grande Beach along the casino with a nice seafront promenade. It is the most reputed beach in town. We see it on post cards with its colored tents. Milady Beach attracts locals with an easy access and plenty of parking. Toward Port-Vieux Beach we find the picturesque side of town. Surfers can choose between several beaches, but the most reputed is Cote des Basques Beach where there are many competitions.
There are many essential things to see in Biarritz! A visit to the sea museum (Musée de la Mer) is a must (near the rocher de la Vierge). Then you can continue the visit to the rocher de la Vierge that is accessible from a metallic footbridge created by Eiffel. Nearby in Bellevue, a nice view allows admiration of the seafront from Grande Beach to the lighthouse. The latter is a great visit with a view of Biarritz and Anglet.
