Our opinion on the Grande Beach
Grande Beach in Biarritz is the most central beach in the area and is the most frequented. Located along a nice promenade with a casino, a swimming pool, and the Palais de Biarritz (hotel), it extends over 450 meters of fine sand. This beach is the most reputed of Biarritz. In the summer we can even rent a colored tent! Note that this beach has had several names over the years: Imperatrice and Fous. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Biarritz. Access to this beach is easy from the Quai de la Grande Plage – stairs or ramp for the handicapped. Paid parking in Vinci Grande Plage or at the casino – about 1.50 euros per hour.
This beach has a lifeguard from the beginning of June to the end of September. We also find kid's clubs and surf schools. Several cafes and restaurants are available around the beach.

Coming from the rocher de la Vierge toward the casino, we arrive to this central beach in Biarritz. It is very busy in the summer.
The building in the foreground is the casino. On the left is the swimming pool which offers a great view of Grande Beach.
From boulevard du General de Gaulle we have a lovely view of this beach and the lighthouse in the background.
At the end of this beach we find the Palais de Biarritz which is one of the most beautiful palaces in this area. Behind the rock is Miramar Beach.
