Sharing the same bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Ciboure is often seen as the little sister of the latter. There is only a beach near the city centre of Ciboure, leaving the port. To enjoy its wide beach, you will have to head for Socoa which is the resort of Ciboure. You will find typical beautiful houses in the Basque style. Several beaches are available to holiday makers including the main beach at the entrance (Socoa Beach) of the resort.
Socoa Fort, at the foot of a small fishing port with colourful boats, is the attraction of this small resort town. Visible from the Grande Plage Beach of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, it overlooks this bay protected by several dikes. Note that the fort dike is used as a promenade (calm sea). There is also a beach at the foot of it.
A beach is also reserved for water sports.
South of Ciboure, are the beaches of Hendaye, last city with the beaches of the Spanish Pays Basque. In the north, you can enjoy the beaches of Bidart and Guétary which have a central position on the French Pays Basque.
