Our opinion on the Pont Mahé Beach
Pont Mahé beach is the main beach of Assérac. Situated on the border of the departments of Loire-Atlantique and Morbihan, this sandy beach stretches for about 2 km in the bay of Pont-Mahé. Following on, there is Pélestin beach. The swimming is very pleasant for the children (gently shelving beach) but it is totally impracticable at low tide (the sea is too far away). It is suitable for people with reduced mobility and there is a lifeguard station in July and August. The environment is very pleasant because the site is classified Natura 2000.
To get to this beach from the centre of Assérac, take the direction for Pénestin by the D82. The main access is on the left in the hamlet of Pont Mahé (free parking along the road with direct access to the beach).

Extending for over 2 km, this beach is located in the bay of Pont-Mahé. With a gently shelving beach, swimming is ideal at high tide but also impossible at low tide.
This beach is the last beach of the Loire Atlantique department. In this picture, you can see the first beach of Morbihan which is in the bay of Palandrin in Pénestin.
The rocks that are seen on the beach opposite are on the borough of Pénestin (Brittany).
Difficult to find the sea at low tide on this beach!
There are several well-equipped accesses from the car parks. Floor mats are also available for people with reduced mobility.
The coastal trail leads to the other beaches of Assérac and the neighbouring department nearby.
This beach is a recognised spot for practicing kitesurfing.
