Mérou Beach in Hyères is located between Ayguade and Vieux Salins. This sandy beach is narrow but bordered by a large lawn (especially usable off-season because there is not much left in summer). The view of the island of Porquerolles, the peninsula of Giens and the coast towards Bormes les Mimosas is nice. In our opinion, there are much better beaches for swimming in Hyères but it can be interesting off-season for a picnic by the sea.
To get to this beach from the port of Hyères, take the D42 towards Vieux Salins. The access to the shaded (and free) car park is on the right 200 meters after the village of Ayguade. One can also access Gapeau Park from the car park (not possible to swim, there are big rocks in the water).
