Our opinion on the Jaunay Beach
Jaunay Beach in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie is the wildest beach of the resort. Located south in between Brétignolles sur Mer, it is not very famous and attendance is reasonable even in summer (probably because parking is difficult, it is advisable to come by bike). The setting is spectacular with a vast expanse of sand stretching along the dunes. One is sure to find a secluded space if one walks a few minutes south or north. However, one must be very careful because swimming is not monitored.
To get to this beach from the center of St Gilles, take the D38 towards Brétignolles (Route des Sables). After 2 km, go past the Bahamas Beach campsite and turn right (opposite the Petit Pavillon campsite). The beach is not indicated (there is only a sign for a campsite). Follow the road (going over a bridge) and keep right. There is no car park (the road is closed by a forest barrier).

This beach south of St Gilles Croix de Vie (on the border with the beach of Brétignolles sur Mer) offers a totally wild environment. This is the top of the dune.
On the right, the view of the end of St Gilles Croix de Vie and the beginning of Saint Hilaire de Riez is beautiful.
This vast expanse of sand stretches several kilometres. The bravest will be able to reach Great Beach in St Gilles in the north.
To the south, the size of the beach makes it easy to find a quiet spot. Note that naturism is not allowed on this beach (that was possible at a time). One can reach Petit Pont Beach in the south, where naturism is allowed.
The environment of this beach is totally wild with beautiful dunes and many trails (one can go there by bike).
To reach the beach one must cross the dune directly on the sand.
There is only a bike park on this beach; cars cannot park there since 2011 (the road is closed by a forest barrier).
To access the beach one has to go on this small bridge at the county exit.
