Located in the north of the peninsula of Arvert, facing the island of Oléron, La Tremblade offers unspoilt landscapes with the forest of Coubre and its beaches on the wild coast (west-facing beaches at the forest level – from the tip of the Coubre to the Spanish tip) renowned for surfing. The seaside resort of La Tremblade is Ronce-les-Bains (north of the peninsula, on the left bank of the estuary of Seudre). Oyster farming is very present in La Tremblade, especially along the estuary of the Seudre with a port and small colorful huts. We are close to Marennes.
There are many beaches in La Tremblade. Those at Ronce-les-Bains (the central and that of La Cèpe) are the most family-friendly and sheltered. Those on the west coast are totally wild with more difficult access by dune beds. They are excellent surf spots, the best in the Royan region. On the other hand, strong currents (presence baines) make them dangerous spots (so be careful for swimming).
South of La Tremblade, there are many seaside resorts. That of Royan is the best known and the most frequented throughout the year. That of Palmyre is the closest and is mainly known for its zoo. Saint Palais sur Mer, Vaux sur Mer and Saint Georges de Didonne complete the choice.
