Our opinion on the Grande Beach
Grande Beach in Les Sables d'Olonne is the main beach of the seaside resort. Located along the embankment, it stretches for about 1.5 km towards Château d'Olonne. This huge stretch of sand allows everyone to find a place to lay his or her towel even in summer (see our pictures taken in early August). Several children’s clubs are available and there are some activities (beach volleyball, water sports centre).
Some restaurants are set up directly on the sand and it is possible to rent mattresses or beach huts.
The embankment allows one to wander on the seafront away from cars. There are lots of events in summer.
In summer, one has to pay to park in the various car parks.

We are near the pool and the harbour of Les Sables d'Olonne. This picture shows the immensity of the beach. Attendance is very significant in early August. In the distance, the beach ends with Tanchet beach in the municipality of Château d'Olonne.
On the right, the beach extends to the harbour’s dike.
Several benches along the pedestrian promenade (embankment - Remblai) allow one to enjoy the view and events of this great beach.
Several areas allow children to have fun on the sand. There are some restaurants with mattress rentals.
There are several restaurants on the sand with the possibility of renting mattresses. The public space is very dominant.
In the central part, attendance is very significant.
